Design, construction, and commissioning of an industrial polymer-modified bitumen production unit with a capacity of 20 m³/h, focusing on the homogeneous dispersion of SBS polymer in the base bitumen. The unit includes a high-shear disperser system, process tanks, an additive dosing system, and an intelligent PLC/HMI-based control system.
Preventing polymer particle agglomeration and achieving uniform dispersion through precise control of disperser speed and mixing time. Controlling the process temperature to prevent thermal degradation of the polymer, as well as effectively handling high-viscosity fluids in transfer and mixing lines.
Development of process design know-how and simultaneous optimization of shear rate, residence time, temperature, and additive injection sequence using PLC-based control to achieve phase stability and consistent product quality. Utilization of domestically manufactured equipment and indigenous design capabilities to reduce dependence on foreign technology packages and enhance production flexibility for various polymer-modified bitumen grades.
Engineering documentation, fabrication and validation of a semi-industrial pilot unit, installation of the main equipment, and production of polymer-modified bitumen samples in compliance with ASTM standards. The project deliverables also include documentation of technical know-how, operating procedures, and a technical package for scale-up to full industrial production.
